Aneka Farma to Invest US$14 Million

As the largest sorbitol producer in Asia Pacific, PT Aneka Kimia Raya will expand its business by establishing two new tapioca factories in Lampung and China, which will require an estimated budget of US$12 million to US$ 14million. The factories are established with an intention to increase tapioca production, as tapioca is the main ingredient of sorbitol. With the establishment of the factories, the company projected to acquire 30 percent to 35 percent of the total necessity of 240,000 tons per year. Aneka Kimia Raya, through its subsidiary PT Sorini Corporation Tbk., now has one tapioca factory in Ponorogo, East Java.

PT Sorini Corporation Tbk will experience a major expense increase if their share of gas supply is only 70 percent from the allocation agreed upon with PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk. The company makes up for the decrease in the supply of gas from Perusahaan Gas Negara by obtaining excess oil residue since last June. Therefore, there will not be a decrease in the production capacity.
