8 outlets of Alfamart in Serang are in danger of closing because the management is pessimistic it is capable of completing the licenses in accordance with the new law issued by the provincial government of Serang.
At the present, there are more than 1,000 Alfamart outlets all throughout the island of Java and Lampung. Its franchise reaches 35 percent from the total outlets.

PT Alfa Retailindo Tbk will not be dividing its dividends this year since the Rp 5.068 billion net profit will be used for reserve funding, investments and work capital. The company will allocate Rp 500 million as reserve funding while the rest (Rp 4.568 billion) will be used for investments and work capital. Last year, Alfa booked Rp 3.26 trillion net sales, which was 10% lower compared to 2003’s net sales. The company’s business profit also decreased 30% from Rp 2.42 billion in 2003 to Rp 1.69 billion in 2004. The retail company’s net profit dropped 39% from Rp 8.38 billion to Rp 5.068 billion.
