The Price of Ink Climbs 25 Percent

Starting 1 September 2004, the price of ink, especially liquid ink, would increase 20 percent to 25 percent due to rising price of basic commodities and fuel. The increasing price was not caused by cartel indication, simply due to increasing price of raw materials such as toluene, ethyl acetat and isoprophyl acetat. Ink manufacturers, such as PT Cemani Toka, PT DIC Graphics, PT Sakata Inx Indonesia, PT Inkote Indonesia and PT Print Color, has raised prices by 5 percent to 10 percent for offset, web, gravure, flexo and metal decorating inks. Due to decreasing supply or inavailability of inks, industries such as instant noodles, cosmetics, garments and electronics were also affected.
