KPI Prohibits SCTV to Build New Transmission Station Bisnis Indonesia, page 4, 2005-08-27
The Indonesian Broadcasting Committee (KPI) prohibits PT Surya Citra Televisi (SCTV) to continue its plan to build 30 new transmission stations for the next two years. The construction of new transmissions stations is prohibited by the Broadcasting Law and may cause local economy to weaken. If new transmission stations are built, the people who inhibit local areas might not obtain adequate information about their region. As stated in Act No. 32/2002, if SCTV plans to expand its’ broadcasting network, for example in Purwakarta – East Java, it has to co-operate with regional TV stations with the consequence that the coverage portion for Jakarta is lessened.

PT Surya Citra Televisi (SCTV) reshuffled its board of commissioners through an extraordinary shareholders meeting. In the meeting, Lieutenant General (retired) R. Soeyono was appointed as the station’s new president commissioner. The reshuffle follows PT Abhimata Mediatama, a multimedia firm, becoming the majority shareholder in SCTV’s holding company, publicly listed television and multimedia firm PT Surya Citra Media (SCM) by purchasing 80.6% of ownership and Henry Pribadi’s resignation from the president commissioner position. A survey from AC Nielsen showed that SCTV ranked third, after Indosiar and RCTI, in audience share for all television hours last year.
