Vice President Jusuf Kalla has approved PT Semen Padang’s (SP) plan to build new cement factories as domestic demand for cement rises. By establishing new factories, SP would be able to increase its production capacity and fulfil domestic demand. SP projects to build Indarung VI factory in 2007. Currently, SP’s production from its four factories (Indarung II, III, IV and V) reached 5,240,000 tons. In 2006, the company plans to increase the production capacity of Indarung V factory from 2.3 million tons to 2.55 million tons. In addition, to increase its market reach, the company’s management plans to build a packing plant in Serang Harbour, Banten and Ciwadan, Bengkulu.
Semen Padang Targets Profit Increase of Rp.212 Billion Next Year Bisnis Indonesia, page B12, 2005-12-15
PT Semen Padang, the subsidiary of PT Semen Gresik Tbk, targets a net profit increase of 56.15 percent amounting to Rp.212.23 billion from this year’s net profit increase of Rp.135.91. The net sales in 2006 of the company is targeted to reach Rp.2.74 trillion, up 29.65 percent from Rp2.11 trillion this year. Meanwhile, the net sales volume next year is only targeted to rise 4.26 percent to 5.32 million tons from 5.1 million tons.
Up to October 2005, the sales volume of Semen Padang reached 3.23 million tons, up 3.3 percent compared to last year’s 3.13 million tons. The sales volume of Semen Gresik rose 7.1 percent to 6.71 million tons compared to last year’s 6.26 million tons.
The operational profit of Semen Padang next year is predicted to rise 60.55 percent from Rp.229.45 billion to Rp.368.39 billion. The company’s production capacity is currently 5.24 million tons.
