PT Pupuk Kujang requests that the government immediately aids it in obtaining gas supply. If not, the effect will not only be the demise of the factory, but also the downfall of the production of rice in West Java. The loss of production could go up to 20 percent. Other than that, it will also effect the income of the farmers. In the beginning of 2006, the supply of gas to PT Pupuk Kujang I will stop, which means the loss of 570,000 tons of produced urea.
At the present, the set capacity of Kujang I and Kujang IB is 1.14 million tons. The need for fertilizer in all of West Java adds up to 800,000 tons. So far, before the operation of Kujang IB, the production of Kujang I was only 570,000 tons. The difference was covered by PT Pupuk Sriwijaya and PT Pupuk Kaltim.
