Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) production data shows that 60 percent of production has gone to beverage and packaging companies, while the remaining 40 percent has gone to food processing and pharmaceutical companies. There are at least 5 PET producers with a 360,000-ton installed industrial capacity annual rate and a 260,000-ton annual export volume. Among the five producers is PT Petnesia Resindo.

Mitsui Chemicals plans to expand in bottle grade PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) Resin Plant of its Iwakkunni and Ottake plants in Japan by 32,000 m.t. to 190,000 m.t. It is a project that responds to increasing demands for highly thermostable PET Resin for juice and green tea bottles. Mitsui holds 46.1 percent share in PT Petnesia Resindo.
