PT Pertani Produces 49,000 Tons of Paddy Seeds

In 2005, PT Pertani plans to produce 49,000 tons, or 15 percent of total national demand, of certified paddy seeds by operating 28 seed production units in Java, Sumatra and the eastern Indonesian region to support 2006’s self-sufficiency program. In regards to the program, the Ministry of Agriculture will provide subsidies to seed-producing state-owned corporations so that they can still sell the commodity for Rp 2,400 per kilogram.
