ABC Battery Manufacturer Violates Anti-Monopoly Law www.anatara.co.id, 2005-03-02
The Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU) suspected that PT Arta Boga Cemerlang (ABC), the manufacturer of ABC batteries, has violated Law No. 5 (article 15 - section 3 b, article 19a, and article 25-section 1a and 2a) 1999 concerning Monopoly Practices Prohibition and Unhealthy Business Competition. ABC’s “Shift the Competition Program” has caused its main competitor, PT Panasonic Global Industry to suffer financial losses. ABC has been offering 2 percent discount to retail stores that were willing to display its products instead of other products. ABC also promised bonuses for retailers that did not sell Panasonic batteries.
