LIPI Acknowledges Livestock Growth Technology
Bisnis Indonesia, page T4, 2006-04-18
The National Institute of Sciences (LIPI) recommends a technology package that accelerates the growth population of livestock to balance out the high need of national beef. At the present, the increase of livestock population in Indonesia is only 1.3 percent per year whereas the county’s population of people increase 1.8 percent per year. As a result, the country is forced to import its remaining need for beef. For example, the import of cows from Australia currently reached 245,000 cows per year. Therefore, LIPI has offered a technology package that includes embryo transfer, artificial insemination using sperm sexing, cattle technology and biogas technology.
