Thousands of Employees in Danger of Being Laid Off

Due to the increasing price of fuel, thousands of workers in the Province of Lampung are in danger of being laid off. PT Gunung Madu Plantations, for example, uses 1,500 kilolitres of fuel per month, 30 percent of which are used for the transportation of its entrepreneurs and surrounding society. Since the fuel price rose, the company could no longer supply them with fuel for the transportations.

The sugarcane droppings due to PT Gunung Madu Plantation’s pipe leak pollute the water of Panjang Harbour in Bandar Lampung. As a result, most of the fishes that populated the waters are exterminated. However, the company has declared its willingness to repair the damages done to the environment.
